Important things to know about me:
:bulletblack: I passionately follow Jesus Christ. This does NOT mean I'm gonna Bible-bash you; I actually aim to be a very approachable person, regardless of what your beliefs are.
:bulletblack: 99% of the time, I draw manga/anime style. It comes more easily to me than realism or semi-realism, though I CAN draw in those styles if I please.
:bulletblack: I analyze everything I watch/read (but FMA the most, probably). Literary integrity (placing the author's intent above all else) is the rule I live by when analyzing. If you're in another school of literary thought, that doesn't mean we can't have a cordial conversation.
:bulletblack: Angst is my natural element. I CAN write/draw fluffier things, but that requires extra-strong motivation.
:bulletblack: I have several tumblr RP blogs, all of which you can find links for from my personal blog, a link for which is located near the bottom of this widget.
:bulletblack: I'm picky with my ships. Multishipping is rare. I don't like ships that seem thrown together for the heck of it or that cause canon characters to act in ways unlike their established selves. This can go for canonxcanon OR canonxOC. I understand that people make OCs for a broad range of reasons; I just prefer to see a believable plot involved.
:bulletblack: I obsess over homunculi. I equally obsess over Edward Elric. That explains a great deal of my OCs, right there.

I don't pass on chain letters or tags.

Hi Angel. Do you have techniques for shading and highlighting hair?
HitanTenshi Featured By Owner 2 days ago  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Hmm, well — as with just about everything I draw — I surround myself with references to help me get a feel for where to put shade and highlights. From looking at these references, I've formed some guidelines for myself.

The key is to pay attention to the texture of the hair. The shaded areas of curly hair will look quite different from the shaded areas of straight hair. Highlights are especially tied to hair texture: hair that is more oily will have larger and more abundant highlights, whereas very dry hair may not have highlights at all (note: grey hair and Ishvalan hair never have highlights for this reason). Smooth straight hair will have highlights almost like like an EKG reading (mostly straight lines with occasional anomalous spikes), less tidy straight hair will have the zig-zag highlights like Ed's, and, with wavy and curly hair, the zig-zags arc more pronouncedly. Very curly hair often looks better with lots of of small highlights as opposed to a few large highlights because the curly hair provides many small surfaces that can reflect light, unlike straight hair which reflects almost like a single surface.

;w; I hope this makes sense and is helpful to you~
